Sagor-Runi murder case report deferred

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka yesterday again deferred the date of submitting probe report of journalist couple Sagar-Runi murder case.
Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury of the CMM Court fixed November 11 as the new date for submission of report on Wednesday. On the day, the Investigation Officer (IO), could not submit the report and the court deferred the date for the 75th time.
Meanwhile, on March 3, the IO submitted a progress report in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court, where he said that two unknown people were involved with the murder incident and evidence carrying their DNA were determined in a cloth of Sagar and Runi’s T-shirt.
Presently, authorities have been maintaining contact with two US labs- Independent Forensic Service and Parabon Snapshot Lab to determine the criminals. These two organizations are making attempts to prepare photographs or similar things of criminals through DNA.  
Sagar Sarowar, News Editor of private TV Channel Maasranga and his wife Meherun Runi, Senior Reporter of another channel ATN Bangla, were killed at their rented flat in the capital’s West Rajabazar on February 11, 2012. The following morning their dead bodies were recovered from their flat.Their only son Mahir Sarowar Megh, then 5, was in home at that time.
Runi’s brother, Nawsher Ali Roman filed the murder case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station of the city on February 12 of the year.
Following the murder, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police had started investigation into the case. On February 16, the enquiry was given to DB Police (North) Inspector Md Rabiul Alam. However, on April 18, 2012, the High Court, in an order, shifted the case to RAB for investigation.
