Detained JKG Healthcare chairman Dr Sabrina’s husband Arif Chowdhury has been placed on a four-day remand in a case filed over deceiving people by giving false coronavirus test reports.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufian Mohammad Noman passed the order as he was produced before his court with a seven-day remand prayer on Wednesday.
On June 23, the Tejgaon police arrested six people, including Ariful Haque Chowdhury, the CEO of the JKG, on charges giving false corona test results and charging money for the test violating the terms of an agreement with the health directorate.
JKG chairman Sabrina Sharmin Hussain alias Sabrina Arif Chowdhury was arrested on the same charge on Sunday.
She was also put on a three-day remanded by a court on Monday.
Earlier on Sunday, Sabrina was expelled from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases by the Health Ministry.
According to a statement of the ministry, police arrested Sabrina for allegedly engaging in fake corona test reports and embezzling huge money.
Being a government official, holding the post of chairman of a non-government organization without the permission of the government and embezzling money is a punishable offense.
Sabrina was called to the Tejgaon DC office of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Sunday for questioning. After the primary grilling, Sabrina was arrested.
