Sabbir’s 78*, Al-Amin 5-for spur Prime Bank CC 3rd win in DPDCL

Al-Amin’s five wickets haul along with Sabbir Rahman’s unbeaten 78 runs helped Prime Bank Cricket Club register third victory in the third round of the 4th Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) outplaying Mohammedan Sporting Club by seven wickets in the rain-hit match at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Friday.
In another third-round match, Amit Majumder hit his maiden List ‘A’ century of 101 runs which spurred Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity to taste maiden victory in this edition 12-team league crushing Partex Sporting Club by 77 runs at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) ground 4 in Savar.
Mohammad Ashraful-led Kalabagan Krira Chakra also ensured maiden win in the league as Mehrab Hossain jr (63 off 108b; 3×4; 3×6), Tushar Imran (56 off 86b; 2×4; 1×6) and man of the match Muktar Ali (unbeaten 52 off 27b; 2×4; 4×6) blasted with fifties to defeat Victoria Sporting Club by 10 runs at BKSP ground 3.
After the day’s results, Gazi Group Cricketers maintained the top slot by the virtue of more run rate with all-win six points from three matches, followed by Prime Bank Cricket Club which jumped up from 5th to leapfrog defending champion Abahani Ltd the side slipped to 3rd slot, having the same win loss record.
Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club, Legends of Rupganj and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club secured 4th to 6th slots collecting four points each from three games, having two wins and one loss apiece.
Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity, Kalabagan Krira Chakra and Mohammedan Sporting Club secured 7th to 9th place collecting two points each from three round games, having one win and two losses apiece.
All-losers Brothers Union, Victoria Sporting Club and Partex Sporting Club took 10th to 12th place respectively.
Prime Bank CC vs Mohammedan SC
Prime Bank CC reached their winning destination with Sabbir Rahman, who shared unbeaten 97 in 16.1 over in 4th wicket with Taibur Rahman, hammering a six in his last ball to collect 150 for 3 wickets in the ball 27.4 overs.
Sabbir faced 75 balls to stay till the end, firing four boundaries and five over boundaries, while Taibur added unbeaten 42 off 50 balls with four boundaries.
Dismissing five wickets for economic 25 runs in six overs, man of the match Al-Amin became the destroyer with his spin attacks against Tamim Iqbal-led Mohammedan SC the side was sent in to bat first and was restricted at 142 for all in 36.1 overs in the curtailed 41overs-a-side match.
Tamim (46 off 67b; 3×4; 1×6) top-scored for Mohammedan SC. Rahmat Shah (24), Shamsur Rahman (13), Raqibul Hasan (12) and Nazmul Hossain Milon (12) were the other double digit scorers for the side.
Khelaghar SKS vs Partex SC
Sent in to bat first, Khelaghar SKS collected 288 for 8 in 50 overs where 26-year old Khulna boy Amit Majumder hit maiden List ‘A’ century and shared 133 runs in 15.2 overs in the 5th wicket partnership with Nazmus Sadat.
Man of the match Amit hit nine boundaries and three over boundaries off 85 balls.
Nazmus Sadat stayed for a sensible 79 off 51 balls, including two boundaries and six over boundaries, while opener Robiul Islam Robi and skipper Nafees Iqbal added 34 and 20 runs respectively.
Jubair Ahmed bagged three wickets for 69 runs while Nuruzzaman Masum and Mamun Hossain took two wickets each for 27 and 46 runs respectively. All delivered 10 overs apiece.
Khelaghar SKS bowlers Ariful Islam, Tanvir Islam and Sadiqur Rahman captured three wickets each for 24, 31 and 58 runs to restrict Partex SC at 211 for all in 45.1 overs where losing side skipper Jubair Ahmed scored 44 off 63 balls, including four boundaries and one six.
