Agency :
For the upcoming Asia Cup, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have announced 15-man squad where middle order batsman Sabbir Rahman has been dropped. Not because of only poor performances in the last few series, but also because of discipline issues.
However, chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu gave poor performances as reason for dropping him from the squad. But in his voices, it was quite clear to guess that only poor performance is not the reason for dropping him. There are some other issues too.
And BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon cleared the suspicion. The board now keeps a close eye not only the performances of the players but also their behavior on and off the field. The President indicated that discipline and performance both are the reasons of dropping him from the team.
Meanwhile, the problems for Sabbir still doesn’t end here. He has been called from the discipline community and then they decide if he will face any further punishment for his recent incidents.
The BCB President said:
“The discipline community has called Sabbir. They will take a decision. And now he is not in the squad. Obviously, it has effected some things.”
Sabbir has played 8 ODI matches this year so far for Bangladesh and he has failed miserably, managing to score only 69 runs.
