SA women clinch ODI series with big win

South Africa women cricket team clinched the five-match ODI series with 3-1 with one match in hand beating host Bangladesh women cricket team by a massive 94-run in the fourth ODI held on Wednesday at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar.
Chasing a massive winning target of 252 runs set by South Africa, Bangladesh found the chase stiff losing wickets in regular intervals in the face of tight bowling display by the visitors and finally dismissed at 157 in 50 overs.
The Tigress faced early batting jolt on way to their massive run chase and could not recovered from the early loss losing wickets in regular intervals.
However, one down Farhana Haque saved Bangladesh from total embarrassment as she contributed a responsible knock of 67-run off 144-ball hitting four boundaries to take the team’s total over 150 runs.
Middle order batsman Salma Khatun (30) and Shaila Sharmin (15) were the other notable scorers for the host side.
Medium pacer Ayabonga Khaka was the most successful bowler for South Africa s she claimed three Bangladesh wickets giving away 34 runs. She was well supported by Moseline Daniels and Marcia Letsoalo who both bagged two wickets each conceding 21 and 39 runs respectively.
Mignon du Preez of South Africa was named the player of the match for her impressive batting performance. Earlier, opted to bat first after winning the toss, the Proteas, rode on a superb half century by Mignon du Preez, amassed a massive total of 251 for 7 from their allotted 50 overs.
Former South African captain Mignon du Perez showed an a matured batting display as she contributed 79 off 108 balls that contained six boundaries and shared 74-run third wicket partnership with Chloe Tryon who scored 47 runs off only 54 that studded seven delightful boundaries.
Besides, skipper Dane van Niekerk smashed an unbeaten knock of 26 off 19 while opener Lizelle Lee smashed 28 runs off 18-ball helped their side to cross the over 250 land mark.
Bangladesh’s Khadija Tul Kubra continued her prolific form with ball as she was the pick of Bangladesh bowlers taking three wickets for 48.
Rumana Ahmed bagged two wickets while Jahanara Alam took one wicket. The visitors are leading the series 3-1 as they won the first match by 86 runs and second match by 17 runs.
However, the hosts fought back well and won the third match by 10 runs. The fifth and final match between the two sides will be held on Friday at the same venue.
