South Africa (SA) won the three-match ODI series 3-0 defeating Bangladesh by 200 runs in the third and final One Day International (ODI) match at Buffalo Park in East London of South Africa on Sunday.
Earlier, South Africa recorded a 10-wicket victory over the tourists in the first ODI at Kimberley in South Africa on October 15 and posted a 104-run victory over the visitors in the second ODI at Paarl in South Africa on October 18.
Electing to bat first, South Africa piled up a mammoth total of 369 for the loss of six wickets in the
allotted 50 overs.
Chasing 370 runs to win, Bangladesh were all out only for 169 off 40.4 overs.
Bangladesh faced a batting debacle as they lost five wickets for 61 runs.
Then Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman fought back contributing together 67 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Shakib Al Hasan was caught at the deep midwicket by substitute JP Duminy off Aiden Markram when Bangladesh’s score was 128 for the loss of six wickets.
Shakib Al Hasan hit a marvelous 63. His 82-ball innings was studded with eight fours. It was Shakib’s 35th ODI half-century.
After Shakib’s dismissal, Sabbir Rahman was caught behind by Quinton de Kock off Markram when the team’s total was 135 for the loss of seven wickets.
Sabbir Rahman hit a polished 39 from 49 balls featuring six fours.
After departure of Sabbir, all the batsmen of Bangladesh failed to resist Proteas’ bowling attack.
Dane Paterson was the hosts’most successful bowler with three wickets instead of 44 runs.
Aiden Markram and Imran Tahir bagged a couple of wickets each for 18 and 27 runs respectively.
Earlier, Faf du Plessis top-scored with 91 before he was retired hurt. He hit 10 fours and one sixer in his 67-ball innings.
The other notable scorers of South Africa were Quinton de Kock 73, Aiden Markram 66, Temba Bavuma 48 and Farhaan Behardien 33 (not out).
