S Korea to work with BD to ensure cyber security

South Korea has expressed interest to work with Bangladesh to ensure a digital economy and cyber security.
South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Lee Jang-Keun expressed the interest during a bilateral meeting with State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak recently at the ICT Tower in city’s Agargaon area.
The ambassador said Korea will play the role of facilitator in various fields including overall cooperation and digital municipality services, education, health and communication for the development of the information technology sector.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interest, especially in the field of ICT.
Palak also informed the ambassador about the establishment of Cyber Security Training Simulation Center, National Digital Forensic Lab, Emergency Response Platform, National Security Operations Center and the construction of Digital Security Agency building at Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park at Kaliakoir.
The state minister said an e-government master plan for digital Bangladesh has already been formulated in collaboration with the South Korean government.
Besides, Digital Island Maheshkhali project has been implemented in collaboration with South Korea and through this, the citizens of the area are getting various technical benefits sitting at their homes, he added.
Senior Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Division N M Zeaul Alam, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Hosne Ara Begum, Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Partha Pratim Deb and South Korean senior officials were present on the occasion.
