S Fahim to assist formulation of business-friendly policy

Sheikh Fazle Fahim, nominated from Gopalganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has been contesting in the upcoming biennial election of the apex trade body, FBCCI, with determination to deal with the problems faced by the businesses.
“I will assist the government in the formulation of friendly policies for the business communities, if elected,” Fahim told BSS Thursday over telephone.
The election to be held on May 23 would elect the executive committee for the 2015-17 tenure, according to the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
Fahim, President of Gopalganj Chamber of Commerce and Industries, is contesting under “Unnayan Parishad” a panel-led by Abdul Matlub Ahmed, chairman of Nitol-Niloy Group, a local industrial conglomerate.
Sheikh Fazle Fahim, son of Awami League Presidium Member and senior parliamentarian Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, said he would work to resolve the problems between the business chambers and business community to ensure country’s economic growth.
“If I am elected, I will work to formulate a business friendly policy,” he added.
The campaign of the FBCCI polls started focusing different demands of the business community.
The Board of FBCCI will be formed with 52 directors, of which 32 directors would be elected in direct election while 20 directors would be nominated by different chambers and associations.
A total of 2,193 voters, of which 430 voters selected from 78 chambers and 1,763 voters from 355 associations, would cast their votes.
Fahim completed his post graduation in Political Economy at St. Edward’s University in 2002. Earlier, he completed his graduation from the same university majoring in economics. As a part of post graduation programme, Sheikh Fazle Fahim also studied in Harvard University.
