A six-member ‘nuclear engineering expert team’ led by Alexander P. Demin, Director of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture and First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bangladesh on Wednesday called on Dhaka University Vice- Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique at the latter’s Office.
Other members of the team are Dr. Aleksey Ponomarenko, Head of Project office for International Programmes of Rosatom State Cooperation Company, Alena A. Minaeva, Specialist of the same organization, Sergey Borodin, Vice-Director of the Institute of Nuclear Power and Technical Physics, Maksim Legchanov, Deputy Director of the same Institute and Gennady G Kulikov, Senior Scientist of the National Nuclear Research University. Professor Dr. Khorshed Ahmed Kabir, Chairman of the Department of Nuclear Engineering of Dhaka University was present on this occasion.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest specially possibilities of strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programmes between the University of Dhaka and universities in Russia.
They also stressed the need for exchanging more teachers, students and researchers between the two countries. They also discussed about introducing short-term training programmes on Nuclear Science for young teachers and internship and scholarship programmes for the students of DU Nuclear Engineering Department in Russia.
Besides, they discussed about appointing Russian Visiting Professor at the Department of Nuclear Engineering of Dhaka University.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the guests for their visit to and keen interests in academic activities of Dhaka University.
