On the eve of the Birthday of Alexander Pushkin, a Russian author and to mark the Russian Language day, a day-long program was held at the Daffodil International University (DIU) Auditorium on Sunday. The program has been jointly organized by, English Literary Club of DIU and Daffodil Institute of Languages (DIL) in association with Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) and supported by International Affairs, DIU.
Bankaev Andrey, First Secretary, Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bangladesh graced the program as the Chief Guest along with Alexander P Demin, Director, Russian Center of Science and Culture Dhaka and shared their views and ideas about Pushkin, Russian Language and Bangladesh.
The Day long program included photo exhibition, discussion and movie screening with the participation of various visitors, teachers and enthusiastic students of DIU. A quiz competition on most common Russian words also organized for the students of DIU.
Dr Binoy Barman, Director Daffodil Institute of Languages delivered the welcome speech to the audiences while Mohammed Shamsul Hoque, Assistant Professor of Department of English, DIU shared experiences on his visit to Russia, its language and literary perspectives. Prizes and certificates were handed over to the top three winners of the Russian language competition by the guests. The discussion ceremony ended up with vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Md Fokhray Hossain, Director, International Affairs, DIU. At 3pm a Russian comedy movie Kidnapping Caucassian Style was screened DIU auditorium for the students.
