A four-day painting exhibition titled Ladies Come Flying by Russian artist Sergey Radiuk began at Gallery Cosmos in the city’s Mohakhali area on January 17.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor MP inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest while Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Ignatov was present as a special guest on the occasion.
Mentioning that Bangladesh has a cultural exchange agreement with Russia, the minister welcomed such painting exhibition in the country.
Gallery Cosmos Chairman and UNB Editor-in-Chief Enayetullah Khan recalled Bangladesh’s relationship with Russian existing since the country’s Liberation War. “Our relationship with Russia goes back to our Liberation War,” he said.
UNB Chairman Amanullah Khan and its Director Nahar Khan were also present at the inaugural ceremony held with Gallery Cosmos Director Tehmina Enayet in the chair.
A total of 28 paintings of the Russian artist have been put on display at the exhibition which will remain open from 12:00pm to 8:00pm every day till January 20.
Sergey Radiuk studied in Minsk College of Art but calls Vologda his ‘creative motherland.’ Sergey Radiuk is the founder and head of ‘Sunny Square’ painting school in Moscow and one of the initiators of international artistic organisation Sunny Square.
He held around 30 personal exhibitions both in Russia and abroad, including India, Luxemburg, France and Vietnam, and participated in over a hundred international art expositions.
