Adamdighi (Bogura) Correspondent :
Plows, yokes and ladders are ancient agricultural implements, their use in Adamdighi is decreasing day by day. Farmers of this upazila and its vicinity used to use wooden plows, yokes, ladders and oxen for plowing the land. Farmers have been using these agricultural inputs for thousands of years for cultivation in crop lands. But in the evolution of time, the use of these traditional things in Adamdighi is on the verge of extinction. Mechanical power tillers and tractors made with modern technology that pollute the environment and noise have taken the place of eco-friendly plow-yoke.
Earlier, the farmers of the upazila could not think of farming without plow and yoke. But in order to keep pace with the modern age, all the mechanical equipments like tractors, power tillers have been invented for cultivation. The mechanized agricultural implements have reduced the demand for agricultural labor.
And with the help of these modern machines, farming is saving more time, labor and money than before. As a result, farmers are cultivating the land using modern machinery. The traditional plow, yoke, ladder and oxen are being lost.
At present almost all the farmers of Adamdighi Upazila make power tillers or use tractors for cultivating the land.
