Rupganj Tigers beat City Club by seven wickets in their match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) Ground-4 in Savar on Friday.
Chasing City Club’s fighting total of 261 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs, Rupganj Tigers romped home making 262 runs for the loss of three wickets when they had 52 balls to spare.
Zakir Hasan of Rupganj Tigers was his team’s most successful batter. He hit a superb 124 runs. His 99-ball innings was laced with 15 fours and three sixes. Zakir Hasan was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding batting performance.
Zakir Hasan and Mizanur Rahman contributed together 56 runs in the opening stand.
Mizanur Rahman made 25 from 33 deliveries.
After Mizanur Rahman’s dismissal, Zakir Hasan and Baba Aparajith built a notable partnership. They scored together 152 runs in the second wicket stand before Zakir Hasan was dismissed by Usman Khalid when Rupganj’s total was 208 for the loss of two wickets.
Baba Aparajith hit a polished 69 from 75 deliveries.
After Baba’s departure, Fazle Mahmud Rabbi and Marshall Ayub guided their team to reach the victory target.
Fazle Mahmud Rabbi remained unbeaten with 29 runs, while Ayub remained unbeaten with seven runs.
Earlier, Zakirul Ahmed of City Club notched up a marvelous 114. He hit 15 fours and a six in his 119-ball innings.
Ashik-Ul-Alam Naeem hit a polished 49. His 62-ball innings had three fours.
Ariful Haque, Shafiqul Islam and Mukidul Islam of Rupganj Tigers bagged two wickets each for 33, 36 and 60 runs respectively.
Baba Aparajith took one wicket in the space of 25 runs.
