Opener Mohammad Naim struck his second successive century in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) as Legends of Rupganj thrashed Prime Bank by 88 runs in their last match of the Super League at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Rupganj ended the league with 26 points, same as Abahani Limited but they became runners-up by virtue of net-run-rate. Since the head-to-head battle between the two sides ended on 1-1.
Abahani Limited crushed Rupganj by 102 runs in the super league phase to take a sweet revenge of their 16-run loss to Rupganj in the group phase, the net-run-rate came to the fore to decide the championship title. In the super league Abahani thrashed Rupganj to boost their net-run-rate factor by big margin as they have 0.866 in contrast of Rupganj’s 0.517.
Rupganj expected a defeat of Abahani at the hands of Sheikh Jamal but that was not to be as the Dhanmondi outfit made a mockery of Jamal to crush them by nine wickets, overhauling the target of 318 at incredible ease.
