Rupganj maintain top spot in DPL with 5-wkt win vs PBCC

Legends of Rupganj maintained the top slot in the points table of the List-A Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League after the 3rd round of its super-six battles with a five-wicket victory against defending champion Prime Bank Cricket Club at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) Ground-3 on Saturday.
Rupganj collected 20 points from 14 matches having nine-win, three-loss and one tie, another one ended in no result.
In the day’s match, replying to 222, Rupganj sealed the win scoring 225 for 5 in 46.5 overs spurred by three half centuries by Nahidul Islam, Asif Ahmed and Mohammad Mithun.
Number-6 batsman Nahidul, who was adjudged man of the match, stayed for unbeaten 64 off 60 balls that included six boundaries and one six.
Besides his individual score, Nahidul paired with Asif Ahmed in the 5th wicket for 77 in 14.3 overs.
Starting from 127/4 in 29.1 overs, the 5th pair ended at 204/5 in 43.4 overs as Asif was stumped by keeper Nurul Hasan off a Nazmul Islam delivery scoring 51off 89 balls with a boundary.
Mithun managed 50 off 76 balls, including five boundaries and one six, before being caught by Sabbir Rahman off Taibur Rahman bowling at 126/3 in 28.5 overs.
Soumya Sarkar was another notable scorer for the side with 47 off 46 balls , involving four boundaries and one six, and was caught by Taibur Rahman off Shuvagata Hom bowling at 73/2 in 14.4 overs.
Shuvagata Hom bagged two wickets for PBCC while Nazmul Islam, Monir Hossain and Taibur Rahman took one wicket each.
Sent in to bat first, PBCC scored a moderate 222 for 8 in 50 overs riding on the number-3 batsman Nurul Hasan’s 75.
Nurul Hasan faced 96 balls to fire six boundaries and one six before he was run out at 205/6 in 47.3 overs.
Taibur Rahman, skipper Shuvagata Hom and Indian batter Unmukt Bharat Thakur Chand added 35, 32 and 30 runs respectively.
Pawan Negi bagged two wickets for Rupganj while Alauddin Babu, Taijul Islam and Nahidul Islam took one wicket each.
