Legends of Rupganj halted Prime Doleshwar’s winning streak as they notched 55-run victory in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on Thursday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.
Rupganj scored a competitive total of 272 for 7 from their allotted 50 overs, courtesy half centuries by skipper Nayeem Islam (78), Mushfiqur Rahim (65) and opener Abdul Mazid (59), after they were forced to bat first by Doleshwar.
Arafat Sunny was the pick of Doleshawar’s bowler as he grabbed three Rupganj’s wickets conceding 40 runs. He was well supported by Farhad Reza who took two wickets giving away 75 runs.
Prime Doleshawr fell short as they were bundled out for 217 in 47.5 overs to chase the target. Sharifullah top scored with 41 runs followed by Opener Imtiaz (35) and Arafat Sunny (28 n.o). The Doleshwar batsmen failed to build any effective partnership losing wickets in regular intervals in the face of tight bowling display by the Rupganj bowlers.
Mosharraf Hossain, the wrecker-in-chief, caused the major damage as he grabbed four Doleshwar’s wickets for 40 runs while Asif Hasan supported him with three for 46.
Nayeem Islam of Rupganj was named the player of the match for his impressive batting performance.
