An Awami League (AL) leader was stabbed to death by a gang of unidentified miscreants in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain, 55, former secretary of Tarail union Parishad in the upazila, police said.
Rupganj Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Mahmudul Islam said that Anwar came under the attack at Birabo around 12:05am.
Police recovered the body based on an information and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy, the police official said.
Police suspect that Anwar might have been killed following previous political enmity, the OC said.
“We are trying to arrest the criminals in this connection,” he said. The body was handed over to the family members of the deceased, the police official added.
