Rupali Bank urges legal sending of remittance

The Jashore SMR Road Branch of the state-owned Rupali Bank Limited held an ‘Uthon Boithok’ on Thursday with the families of some 500 expatriate Bangladeshis to promote sending of remittance through legal channel.
Some hundred aspirant youths who wish to go abroad for work also took part in the meeting, reports, BSS.
The ‘Uthon Boithok’ was held on the premises of the Kashimpur Union Parishad under Jashore Sadar upzaila. The officials of the Bank urged the family members of the expatriate Bangladeshis to send remittance through legal channel. They also highlighted the negative aspects of sending remittance through ‘hundi’.
The Rupali Bank officials suggested the family members of the expatriates to motivate their near and dear ones in abroad to avail the 2.5 percent incentive offered by the government in sending remittance.
Moderated by manager of SMR Branch of Rupali Bank Limited Md Shahidul Islam, Rupali Bank Khulna Divisional Chief and General Manager Hemanta Kumar Das spoke at the function as the chief guest. Regional Deputy General Manager Rokonuzzaman and Kashimpur Union Parishad Chairman Md Shariful Islam spoke, among others, on the occasion.
