Legendary singer of the Subcontinent Runa Laila rendered song for Bangladesh Television (BTV) after 24 years. She will be seen to perform in BTV’s Eid special programme titled Tomader-e Gaan Shunabo. Under the coordination of Director General of BTV Harun-ur-Rashid and produced by Mahbuba Ferdous recording of the show has been done at BTV recently.
Popular singer Ankhi Alamgir hosts the programme while Runa’s husband noted actor, director and producer Alamgir will be also present as invited guest in the show.
While sharing her feelings to render songs for BTV Runa Laila told this correspondent, “After 24 years I have rendered songs for the viewers of BTV. I really enjoyed a lot. Overall arrangement including set design and others were good. Ankhi’s hosting was also nice. Overall it has become a nice show. I hope viewers will enjoy the programme in Eid.”
Ankhi Alamgir shared her feelings by this way, “I am really grateful to BTV authority to give me an opportunity to host such a show. I never thought to get the scope to host such a show on BTV earlier.”
It is noted that in 1974, Runa Laila first rendered song on BTV.
Later she also performed there for three to four times. She last performed in 1994 there.
