Internationally renowned Bangladeshi singer Runa Laila received the Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal by the Dhaka University (DU).
The acclaimed singer received the gold medal and a cheque of Tk100,000 from DU Vice Chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman on July 30 at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
While sharing her feelings after the honour Runa Laila said, “I’m really honoured to get an award named after Feroza Apa and I feel very proud of it.”
Sponsored by ACI Foundation, the DU introduced the medal in 2016 named after the legendary Nazrul Sangeet singer Feroza Begum to honour a nationally recognised music artiste each year. The best student of the Department of Music of DU also receives the Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal each year.
