A number of family members of Hossain Ahmed Para under Ward No.40 in EPZ thana area in the city alleged that officer- in-charge and one sub-inspecor of EPZ thana are patronising the ransacking of dwelling houses by Sramik League and Jubo League leaders led by Matin Master and Aziz .
This was disclosed at a press conference held at Chittagong Press Club auditorium on Friday morning arranged by the sufferers.
An elderly sufferer Ayub Ali read out the written statement before the pressmen in the meet. The press meet was told that Sramik League leader Matin Master and Jubo League leader M Aziz were directly involved in vandalising their dwelling houses.
Sources said seven families built kutcha dwelling houses overkhas land near halishahar embankment area(kathian No.1, plot No.3003 ) of total land 8 gandas and residing peacefully since long.
In the meantime, these family members also prayed to district administration for leasing out these khas land to them on June 14 last which is now under process, they said.
Meanwhile thana administration pressed them frequently to demolish their houses and vacate the land and finally asked them to demolish their houses on November 4 last.
But on next day November 5, a group of miscreants in presence of Sramik League, Jubo League leaders, demolished their kutcha houses caused properties worth about Tk.10-12 lakhs. Earlier on October 22 last,sufferer Ayub Ali filed a case under Section 145 before the ADM court in Chittagong against the frequent threatening by the activisits of the ruling party men, press meet was told.
The press meet urged the Prime Minister, Land Minister, Deputy Commissioner, Police Commissioner for intervention to the matter and lease out these land to these landless city dwellers.
