Rule hearing over Fakhrul’s bail Nov 9

The High Court on Thursday fixed November 9 for hearing on a rule over regular bail of BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in the three arson cases filed with Paltan police station.
An HC bench comprising Justice M Rezaul Haque and Justice M Khasruzzaman fixed the date of hearing.
On November 2, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court asked Mirza Fakhrul to surrender to a lower court turning down his bail petition seeking extension of the
deadline for his surrender in the three cases,
The Appellate Division also asked the High Court to hear the rule regarding his regular bail in the cases within two weeks.
On Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M Maruf Hossain sent the BNP leader to jail rejecting his bail prayers after he surrendered before a court here.
On June 21, the HC granted bail to Fakhrul until disposal of the High Court rule over granting him permanent bail in the three cases.
On July 13, rejecting the state lawyers’ plea against Fakhrul’s bail, the Appellate Division upheld the High Court bail for six weeks to the BNP acting secretary general in the three cases on health grounds.
The court also asked Fakhrul to surrender before the trial court before expiry of the bail.
