An eleven-member of Bangladesh rugby team will leave for Qatar tomorrow (Thursday) to take part in the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy scheduled to be held on March 3-4 in Doha.
Eleven countries, split into four groups, will take part in the tournament. Bangladesh pitted in Pool D along with strong Thailand and Iran will play their opening group match against Iran on Friday (March 3) and play their second and last group match against Thailand on the same day afternoon at Aspire Rugby Stadium in Doha.
Bangladesh for the second time are going to represent in the tournament after their successful participation in the inaugural tournament held in Chennai, India last year.
“We are very optimistic with the team …. the way we have been making trained to the present Bangladesh team in the last three months I hope they will able to bring a good result for the country,” said Bangladesh Rugby Federation (BRF) President Abdullah Al Zahir Swapan at team’s pre departure press conference held on Tuesday at conference room of National Sports Council (NSC).
