Students of Rajshahi University on Saturday protested assaulting of its teachers and students by leaders and activists of City Awami League and university unit Chhatra League.
Leaders and activists of City Awami League and RU unit BCL led by City AL general secretary locked every entrances of the university on Friday and forcefully foiled the recruitment test on Friday.
Following the blockade, Students were forced to jump over the wall to go outside or enter the campus for their daily tasks. Besides, RU Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan and ICT centre administrator Prof Khademul Islam Mollah were given death threat to postpone recruitment test.
Over two hundred students of the university brought out a protest procession on campus at 11:00am that joined at a human chain in front of the university central library.
Addressing the human chain, Students said, no one can do anything what he wants at RU as it is not a personal property of anyone.
“Death threat to teachers, forcing students to jump over wall and showing ID card to ousters are humiliating. We strongly protest the incidents and demand to take proper steps against the culprits”, they said.
They demanded to take effective measures to prevent the interference of the ousters in university administrative functions to ensure its autonomous character
