Shahabiddin Shihab and Konika Pope were made new president and general secretary respectively for Rajshahi University (RU) Kendrio Sangskritik Jote on Friday for the year of 2014-15, said a press release.
The Jote former president Basudev Roy and general secretary Shahnawaj Shuvo helped forming new committee with the presence of its members on Friday night in an annual meeting.
The other office bearers are-presidium members Sumon Sarker, Devasri Mandal, Umme Tasnim Zakiya, Dewan Alamgir, Assistant general secretary Tarikul Islam Romio and organising secretary Sohel Rana.
Addressing at a meeting, they protested recent countrywide abduction and extra-judicial killings.
They also vowed to resist fundamentalists on campus through cultural activities.
Among others, former presidents of Jote Azmal Huda Mithu, Aupurbo Chakrabarti and RU genetic engineering teacher Amit Kumar Dutta and Shibu Chandra Adhikari addressed at the meeting.
