RU recommends suspension of 3 BCL men

The disciplinary committee of the Rajshahi University (RU) recommended suspension of three leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) university unit for beating up the acting chief engineer and two employees of the university.
The three are: SM Touhid-Al-Hossain Tuhin, master’s student of Finance Department and removed general secretary; Tanmoy Ananda Avi, master’s student of Fisheries department & vice-president, and Mamun-Ur-Rashid Mamun, an activist, of the university unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League.
In a meeting of university disciplinary committee headed by VC Prof Muhammad Mizan Uddin yesterday afternoon strongly recommended to the syndicate body to suspend the trio from the campus permanently, a syndicate member ensured this.
It is mentionable, on August 28, 2014, Tuhin, Avi and Mamun along with their men beat up the university’s acting chief engineer Sirajum Munir at vice-chancellor’s office as he refused to give them Tk 1 lakh that was demanded as extortion. They also beat up two other employees on the day.
Then BCL central executive committee removed Tuhin on charge of the incident.
