Teachers of Political Science Department at Rajshahi University (RU) went on indefinite work abstention on Sunday demanding removal of head of the department Professor Dr Nasima Zaman.
Some 11 teachers of the department started their demonstration at 9:00 am bringing no-confidence in Professor Dr Nasima Zaman in supervising the department. Assistant professor Dr M Sultan Mahmud Rana of the department said, “We have only one demand which is the removal of the department head Dr Nasima Zaman as she is totally failure as the head of the department.”
“On August 2, we have placed no-confidence motion against her to the Vice Chancellor. But she did not tender her resignation till now. We will continue the demonstration until our demand is met,” he also said.
The protesting teachers started a sit-in programme in front of the department at 9:00 am and it will continue till 5:00 pm on Sunday.
Meanwhile, they have boycotted all academic activities including classes and examinations.
