Prof Mostfizur Rahman, Dean of Fine Arts Faculty of Rajshahi University resigned from his post on Sunday after the university authority found him guilty of adding ‘sectarian questions’ in a question paper of first year admission test.
Prof Mustafizur Rahman, who was the coordinator of the admission test committee of the Faculty and also chairman of graphic design, crafts and history of art department, submitted his resignation letter to RU registrar Professor M Bari around 10 am, official sources said.
Professor M Bari said that Professor Mustafizur Rahman would carry out his job as dean till the university vice chancellor Professor M Abdus Sobhan appointed another teacher to the post.
However, Mustafizur Rahman was not available for his comments as he did not receive the phone calls despite repeated trying.
Earlier on 06 December, the university authority at its 474th syndicate meeting barred Professor Mustafizur Rahman and Zillur Rahman, assistant professor of painting, print making and oriental arts department, from taking part in all examinations-related activities for ten years as the probe body found them guilty of adding ‘sectarian questions’ in a question paper of first year admission test. The university authority also decided, in the same meeting, to remove Mustafizur Rahman from the post of dean.
