A seminar entitled “Human Rights Situation in Bangladesh: Duty of Law Learners” was held at Rajshahi University on Thursday.
Rajshahi University Association of Law Finders (RUALF), a platform for RU law students organized the seminar held at the university deans’ complex.
Advocate Sultana Kamal, executive director of Ain o Salish Kendra addressed the seminar as key speaker while RU vice chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin was present as chief guest.
Taufique Al Mannan, coordinator of ASOK presented the key note and M A Sayeed Shuvo, former general secretary of RUALF and President of Rajshahi University Journalist Association (RUJA), delivered welcomed speech at the programme.
Sultana Kamal, executive director of Ain o Salish Kendra in her speech expressed grave concern on the continuous violation of human rights throughout the country.
She also said, our country is going ahead but judiciary, the foremost department for protection of the violation of human rights is going down.
“No one could get natural justice in the present condition of our judiciary”, she also said.
She urged the law students to come forward for building social agitation against the violation of human rights by making the people conscious about it.
Sultana Kamal also welcomed the students in politics which is for the betterment of human being not partisan politics. RU VC Prof Mizanuddin also urged the students to step up against all types of violation of human rights and corruption adding that everyone has the social responsibility to make ensure the peaceful enjoyment of everyone’s human rights. RUALF president Farjul Islam Fahim presided over the programme while general secretary Rakibul Hasan Piays conducted it.
Among others, Prof Biswajit Chanda, RU law faculty dean, Prof Anisur Rahman, M M Nuruzzaman Babu, founding president of RUALF and also lawyer of the Supreme Court spoke at seminar.
New bus launched
Rajshahi University (RU) authority has recently launched a new bus at the university transport services.
RU vice chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin inaugurated the bus while RU pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan and Treasurer Prof Sayen Uddin Ahmed addressed, among others, in the inaugural ceremony.
RU Student Adviser Prof Sadequl Arefin Matin said, we have launched a new bus to increase transport facilities for the teachers and students. Earlier, in several times, the students were demonstrating for more buses to suppress their sufferings.
Hiroshima Day observed
Bangladesh Chhatra Front, Chhatra Union, Chhatra Federation, Biplobi Chhatra Moitri of Rjashahi University unit recently jointly observed the Hiroshima Day on the campus.
To mark the day, Bangladesh Chhatra Front organized a human chain in front of the university central library at 11:00am. Expressing their solidarity, leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra Union, Chhatra Federation, Biplobi Chhatra Moitri and Rajshahi University Kendrio Sangskritik Jote joined the human chain.
Speakers emphasised the need for building a peaceful world at the inaugural function.
They made the imperialistic aggression of the then world liable for bombing at Hiroshima and Nagashaki.
They also urged the world leaders to take effective steps against imperialistic aggression for making ensure a peaceful world. Among others, Chhatra Front RU unit president Alamgir Hossain Sujon, Chhatra Federation president Faruk Emon, Chhatra Union president Ayatullah Khomeni, Biplobi Chhatra Moitri financial affairs secretary Khaledur Rabi.
