Police on Wednesday arrested the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Rajshahi University unit Vice-President Delwar Hossain following an attack on demonstrating students in the campus on Monday.
The officer-in charge (OC) of Matihar Police Station said, Delwar was detained at 4.pm from the city’s Veripara area.
‘A remand will also be sought for Delwar’ the police officer added.
The students of the University began their demonstration from January 16 in demands of withdrawing evening courses under various faculties and a decrease in the tuition fees.
The students said, the evening courses were the primary move for privatisation of the public university.
