A Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist of Rajshahi University unit, the president candidate of Shaheed Sohrawardy hall unit beat up rival candidate on Sunday night to force the latter for withdrawing his candidacy in the upcoming BCL RU unit hall council on November 22.
The victim was identified as Moniruzzaman Milon who took primary treatment from a local medical centre.
Witnesses and BCL insiders said, Milon went to the hall guest room around 10:30pm where Rajib Shikder, hall president candidate loyal to RU unit BCL Mizanur Rahman Rana along with his aides was present.
“Milon who didn’t have knowledge of Rajib’s presence, sought permission from Rajib to enter into the room but Rjaib misbehaved with him for no reasons that locked into altercation between the duo”, said a BCL activist of the hall wishing anonymity. At one stage of altercation, BCL activist Rajib and Abdul Latif along with their some 2/3 aides swooped on Milon and beat up randomly before releasing him.
