Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said that the authority concerned has already been ordered to take legal steps against those who were involved with the violent attacks on the students of Rajshahi University.
She said: “We have already expelled a number of Chhatra League leaders, who launched attacks on the demonstrating students of Rajshahi University (RU).
Moreover, the authority concerned has asked to take proper legal steps against those who would be found responsible,” she added.
The premier came up with the determination while addressing the maiden session of the 10th parliament on Tuesday evening.
Mentioning that Awami League never forgives defaulters, she said: “Although they were BCL members, we have put the killers of Biswajit under trial.”
Apart from uttering stern actions against involved BCL members, she also called upon the leftist organisations to prevent further bloodsheds in public universities by the Jamaat-Shibir members.
She also announced her government would open a fresh inquiry to unearth the conspiracy in the smuggling of the 10-truck arms as Hawa Bhaban and BNP chief Khaleda Zia were named during the trial and investigation into the sensational case.
“The trial of the case has been completed. But an inquiry is required to find out those were involved in the conspiracy in the arms smuggling. And we will do it,” said Hasina after her party lawmakers had demanded trial of Khaleda for her involvement in the smuggling. She said the further inquiry is required to know the sources of the arms, money and who had brought the huge arms which were hauled in Chittagong in 2004. An international inquiry is also underway, she said. Speaking at parliament this evening, the Leader of the House alleged that the BNP government in the past had allowed the separatist groups of India to use the land of Bangladesh. “We have made it clear that we will not allow the land of the country to be used as a safe heaven of terrorists which eventually may jeopardise the security of the country.”
The prime minister alleged that Khaleda Zia in an address had expressed her support to the separatist groups of seven Indian states and described their activities as movement for their independence.
Hasina said, “The issue is between Indian and Pakistan. So, why would the land of Bangladesh be used? Why do we allow using our independent country? But BNP used to allow it.”
The prime minister in her address at the first session of the 10th parliament formed following a boycotted election on January 5 alleged that Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the premier intelligence agency of Pakistan turned Bangladesh into a ground to play its evil games after the murder of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975. She alleged the involvement of the then government with the smuggling of the sensational ten truckloads of arms in 2004 in Chittagong. “It could not be possible without the involvement of the government.” She posed a question why the then prime minister had remained silent if the government had no involvement with the smuggling. “Silence is the signs of consent.
