RTI Act’s full implementation to empower people demanded

Speakers at a post-rally discussion in Rajshahi stressed the need for full-length implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act to empower people, making all public services transparent and accountable.
Ensuring free flow of information from all government and non-government organizations can ensure development of the country and good governance, they told the meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office conference hall marking the International Right to Information Day on Thursday. District administration and district information office organised the function with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Alamgir Kabir in the chair. Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Abdul Kader, Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah, Additional District Magistrate Nasima Khatun, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Abu Hayat Rahmatullah and Deputy Director of Department of Information Md Shamsuzzaman, among others, addressed the meeting.
Kader said the government is working relentlessly for successful implementation of the RTI act, adding that the field level government and non-government officials concerned need to be positive to supplement the government effort.
He suggested full-length implementation of the RTI act to empower people.
