Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority , Chittagong suspended sailing of passenger ships from Chittagong to Sandwip and Hatiya routes from yesterday due to inclement weather accompanied with rough sea , a BIWTA sources said.
The voyage towards Sandwip and Hatiya island remained suspended from the morning of yesterday until further notifications. Deputy general Manager of BITWA, Chitgong Nasir chowdhury told that due to bad weather in the Bay and for safety of the passengers and the cargos , authority has taken this decision of suspension of sailing of ship.
Meanwhile chittagong is experiencing heavy down pour f rom the morning and cautionery signal no.3 is hoisted in the Bay, met office sources said. Patenga met office sources said low depression in the north Bay and its adjoining areas prevailing and the heavy downpour accompanied with gusty wind is expected in the area in next 24 hours.
Among others Director of CPA Jafar Alam, district fishery officer pravati Dev, civil surgeon of Ctg Dr Sarfaraz Khan were also present in it. The press meet was told that oil spilling in the river water will cause bio-diversity environment but our present efforts is to protect the environment with minimum extents.
