Abdur Rouf, managing director of Afsar Group, committed suicide after killing his wife, Rukhsana Parveen, in their residence in city’s DOHS area on Monday night, according to police.
Before the incident, they were brawling over ownership of a piece of a land at Gulshan-2 area, worth about Tk 150 crore. Rouf’s mother was the original owner of the land. Parveen has been demanding a share of the land, but Rouf was against it. At one stage of their quarrel, Rouf shot dead his wife and later he shot himself to death, said OC of Cantonment Police Station Md Atiqur Rahman.
The Investigation Officer (IO) Shakhawat Hossain said that police seized the pistol and other documents from the house. He said that 12 round of bullets were recovered from the spot. The postmortem reports of the bodies found that Parveen received three round bullets while two bullets were pierced the body of Rouf, he said.
A team of RAB visited the scene while another team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) collected the evidence from the spot.
