Barrister Mutasim Billah Faruqui, Governor of Rotary International District 3261, inaugurated the planting of 1 million saplings across the country this year on behalf of Rotary on Yesterday Friday .
He inaugurated the program at Salimuddin Chowdhury Degree College premises in Rupganj of Narayanganj district yesterday morning. More than three hundred Rotary clubs have also started planting trees across the country since yesterday. Apart from Yesterday, Governor Farooqi released fish fry in winter, inaugurated a free medical camp at KPS General Hospital and distributed educational materials among the students. Former President of Rangpur Press Club Bir Muktijoddha Sadrul Alam Dulu inaugurated the program at 11:30 am on Friday at the premises of Rangpur Press Club under the chairmanship of Dr. Syed Mamunur Rahman.
Rafiq Sarkar, general secretary of Rangpur Press Club, Gautam Roy, Sabbir Ahmed, Nur Alam, Abdul Quddus, Majerul Islam Liton, Rezaul Islam Milon, president of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber and members of Janata Rangpur were present at the time.
At the inaugural function, Dr. Syed Mamun, the convener of Janata Rangpur, said that the number of patients suffering from corona is increasing at an alarming rate in Rangpur division. But the political, social, professional and voluntary organizations of Rangpur are not showing much initiative in resolving this issue. The administration is also working loosely. In addition, the risk of infection is increasing due to the neglect of hygiene in all areas. It is not possible to admit patients to Corona Hospital due to extra patient pressure. As the corona infection index is on the rise, all the voluntary organizations in Rangpur have to work together. People need to be made aware and forced to follow hygiene rules.
He further said that Janata Rangpur will form ‘Volunteer Brigade’ with interested members of all voluntary organizations. This team will help ensure medical care for patients with corona. We will help bring people under vaccination if necessary. At present we have started activities with a small number of oxygen cylinders. Its scope will gradually increase.
