BSS, Dhaka :
Pacer Abu Haider Rony claimed five wickets for 93 runs, as Walton Central Zone put them in an advantageous position against Islami Bank East Zone on day one of the second round game in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) on Sunday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Thanks to Rony’s fifer, Central Zone bowled East Zone out for 245 in the first innings and then batted one over to score four for no loss at stumps.
Shahadat Hossain Dipu was the highest scorer for East Zone with 71 while No. 8 batteer Nayeem Hasan was not out on 40. Opener Imrul Kayes made 31 but his fellow opener Mohammad Ashraful was dismissed for duck to give the side a bad start after Central Zone sent them in to bat first.
Robiul Islam who removed Ashraful, also took the wicket of Kayes after he added 57-run with Shahadat for the second wicket stand.
Rony then got into the act as he sliced the middle order in a gem of pace bowling. But Shahadat kept his resistance until left-arm spinner Hasan Murad got rid of him. Pritam Kumar also gave him the side with 30 runs.
Hasan Murad who snapped up 3-47 to complement Rony’s five-for cleaned up the tail of East Zone.
