The 18th Convocation Ceremony of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) was held on Saturday AIUB own campus at Kuril, Dhaka. Nurul Islam Nahid, M.P. Minister, Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh authorized by the delegation of power by the President, People’s Republic of Bangladesh & Chancellor of AIUB to preside over the ceremony and conferred the Degrees to the graduating students. Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh was the special guest. Ambassador, United States of America to Bangladesh Marcia S. Barnicat graced the Ceremony as the Convocation Speaker.
Ishtiaque Abedin, Chairman, AIUB Board of Trustees and the Vice Chancellor AIUB Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna also spoke on the occasion. A total number of 2674 Graduates were conferred degrees for successfully completion of all the academic requirements in various disciplines of the Bachelors and Master’s Degree Programs of the University.
Congratulating the graduating students, the Nurul Islam Nahid, MP praised & Thanks AIUB for its sincere role to provide to quality education and playing a pioneer role to develop the country by producing quality graduates.
The special guest Professor Abdul Mannan congratulated the new graduates. In his speech, the Chairman of the UGC emphasized a great need to improve quality of higher education. He also thanks to AIUB for its enormous effort for shifting the all-academic programs in his permanent campus. The Convocation speaker US Ambassador to Bangladesh
Marcia S. Bernicat presented the speech of convocation. She congratulated the new graduates and said that the education of the university is the education of changing itself. She advised AIUB’s new graduates to be one of the world citizen in collaboration with the changing world. At the same time she said that the biggest promise of life is “We Shall Overcome”. By holding this promise she urged the new graduates to go ahead.
The Vice-Chancellor of AIUB Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna congratulated the new graduates on behalf of AIUB for achieving their degrees and performance. She advised the graduates to deal with their own talent with the patience of each and every problem they face.
Ishtiaque Abedin in his welcome speech congratulated the graduates for their remarkable achievement. He said that the university was founded by his father Dr. Anwarul Abedin’s dream and today that has become a reality. For the young graduates, he said that they will take Bangladesh forward in its specific destination.

Hasan (Treasurer), Ms. Nadia Anwar along with the members of the Board of Trustees Mrs. Sabrina Abedin, Dr. Abdus Samad Alim, Dulce Lamagna Mazumdar, Shania Mahia Abedin, Registrar, Vice Chancellors of other Universities, UGC Officials, AIUB Faculty members, parents and guardians, Syndicate and Academic Council members, Deans and officers graced the Ceremony. Along with the graduating students and their families a large number of local and foreign dignitaries and members of the print and electronic media also attended the convocation ceremony.
