Police arrested a teacher of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur for ‘derogatory’ facebook post on ex- health minister and Awami League leader Mohammed Nasim, who passed away on Saturday.
The arrestee is Sirajum Munira, a lecturer of Bangla Department of the university.
Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Tajhat police station, said police arrested the teacher from Sadarpara area of the district town around 1am on Sunday in connection with a case filed under the Digital Security Act by university registrar Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal.
Sirajum Munira posted derogatory remarks on Nasim on her facebook wall which went viral, according to the case statement.
Nasim, son of Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali, one of the organisers of the Liberation War of Bangladesh and a close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, breathed his last at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in the capital on Saturday.
