Roja Paromita Dey in Bangladeshi film

Kolkata’s heroine Roja Paromita Dey is going to work in Bangladeshi movie for the first time. She will act in Dhrubo Hasan’s movie ‘Dahokal.’ She has already came to Dhaka and also took part in shooting of first phase of the movie in Pabna. After completing shooting she is expected to return to Kolkata today.
Paromita was informed about acting at two-month theatre workshop from student of Kolkata’s legendary actor Utpal Dutta, Sohag Sen. After taking part in that workshop Paromita got the scope to act in Raj Chakraborty’s movie ‘Kathmandu.’ Later she got the opportunity to act in Rajesh Ganguly’s Hindi movie ‘Dirty Heroes.’ She last acted in Komoleshwar Mukherjee’s movie ‘Cockpit.’
While talking about to act in Bangladeshi movie ‘Dahokal’ Roja Paromita Dey told this correspondent, “As I am hailed from Bangladesh so I have better understanding about our Liberation War. Context of ‘Dahokal’ is based on the war of independence of Bangladesh. I am playing in role of ‘Reba’ in the movie who is a medical student. During the liberation war how much modern a medical student was is to be presented in this film. Reba is also courageous and talented. I am acting cordially in this movie. It was expected to take part in shooting in Sunamganj but it will be happened later.”
After came to Dhaka Roja Paromita also acted in three plays under Tauquir Ahmed, Goutam Koiree and Golam Muktadir Shan’s direction.
It is mentioned that Roja Paromita is daughter of Bangladeshi noted actress Shilpi Sarkar Apu’s younger sister Oli. Apu is also acting in role of Roja’s mother in ‘Dahokal.’ Roja Paromita was champion contestant at East Indian Glamour Hunt contest. After returning to Kolkata Roja Paromita will start shooting of Anik Dutta’s movie ‘Bhuter Bhobishyot.’
