Rohingyas not to be included in voter list: Div Commissioner

Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong Abdul Mannan asked all not to include the Rohingya people in the voter list. “We have to resist all steps of Rohingya people to be included in the voter list of Bangladesh.” Addressing the workshop held at Chittagong Circuit House on Tuesday morning as chief guest, Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong Abdul Mannan also said, Pime Minister Sheikh Hasina showed maximum humanity to the tortured Rohingya refugees.
But, she directed all of us particularly government officials to take step for not including the Rohuingyas in the updated voter list. “So, we have to work to exclude the Rohingyas from voter list.” He said the root level politicians should do their duties honestly. If the officials and locals find any Rohingya people at any spot in the city they should inform the law enforcers and administration. “The Rohiongyas should be sent to camps immediately.”
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chittagong Mohammed Zillur Rahman Chowdhury chaired the program. He said there are many Rohingyas living in Chittagong including the metropolitan areas. Director of LGRD Depok Chakraborti addressed the function as special gust. Among others, Deputy Director of district administration Nayeb Ali, Rangunaia Upazila Chairman Muhammad Ali Shah, Anwara Upazila Chairman Touhidul Haque Chowdhury, Municipality Mayor of Chandanaish Mahabubul Alam Khoka, Municipality Mayor of Banshkhali Selimul Haque and representatives of Union councils addressed the meeting. Earlier, on August 26, Election Commission (EC) declared 30 upazilas of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban and Rangamati vulnerable for illegally living Rohingyas.
