Nearly 100 Rohingyas refugees, many of them bullet-hit, have hospitalised in the southeastern Bangladesh city of Chittagong since fresh violence broke out in Myanmar on Aug 25.
Late on Monday, five more refugees, including four with gunshot wounds, have been brought to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital or CMCH.
The group was brought over from the Kutupalong refugee camp near the Teknaf border in Cox’s Bazar.
The patients have been identified as Imam Sharif, 16, Maukat Ullah, 28, Md Taher, 21, Abdul Karim, 19, and Mariam Begum, 10.
Mariam was injured in a road accident in Teknaf, CMCH police camp’s ASI Alauddin Talukdar told bdnews24.com. The others were struck by bullet in the leg.Teenager Umme Salma, who was shot in her left leg while fleeing to Bangladesh, is undergoing treatment at CMCH.. A fresh influx of Rohingya refugees has crossed into Bangladesh after insurgents attacked as many as 30 police outposts and a military camp in Myanmar’s Rakhine State on Aug 24.
A total of 96 Rohingyas have been admitted to CMCH in the days since, most wounded in gunfire and explosions. Two of them have died.
