National Cricket Championship: Robiul powers Laxmipur to beat Rangamati by 37 runs

A captain knock of 96 runs by Robiul Alam Rana guided Laxmipur District to make a good start in Chittagong Divisional match of the 36th National Cricket Championship beating Rangamati District by 37 runs at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium here on Sunday.
Sent into bat first, Laxmipur District scored a comfortable 274 for 7 in stipulated 50 overs.
After the departure of five top order batsmen for 74 runs in 21.2 overs, number five batsman Medehi Hasan pairing with number seven batsman-cum-captain Robiul Alam Rana contributed 133 runs in 18.1 overs in the 6th wicket partnership.
Skipper Robiul Alam Rana quick-fired 96 runs off just 61 balls, featuring eight six and six sixes, Mehedi Hasan contributed an unbeaten 67 runs off 104 balls hitting one four and one six while Nahid Hasan made an unbeaten 33.runs off 23 deliveries with four fours and one six.
Imran Hossain grabbed four wickets for 46 runs while Hamidul Islam, Shafiul Islam Mintu and Rajib Das took one wicket each.
Replying to Laxmipur mammoth total, Rangamati District, riding on century by Elias Hossain, bravely fight for their existence and were all out for 237 runs in 46.4 overs.
One down Elias Hossain made a ton scoring 113 runs off 111 balls with 14 fours and two sixes.
Besides, Bipu Barua (37), captain Rajib Das (19), Osman Gani (16) and Sadek Hossain (13) were other notable scorers for Rangamati District reaching the double digit.
Nahid Hasan claimed four wickets for 44 runs while Hasan Mahmud and Tanjid Ahmed took two wickets each conceding 32 and 37 runs respectively.
