Mobile phone operator Robi recently organized a daylong programme titled “Robi Career Carnival” at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET).
The aim of the programme was to make the students of KUET aware of the career opportunities available with the company and the industry at large.
Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Vice Chancellor of KUET inaugurated the daylong program. Prof. Dr. Md. Mustafizur Rahman, Head of Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Prof. Dr. Nurunnubi Mollah, Dean, Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from KUET were also present on the occasion.
Robi’s Vice President, Resourcing Sharmin Sultan had introduced the KUET students to Robi as an employer with a detailed brief on its business operation. She also made the students aware of the Axiata Group Berhad (The parent company of Robi Axiata Limited) based in Malaysia and its global footprint.
The career carnival featured two very practical sessions namely “Career at Technology” and “Career at Sales” to make the students aware of the real life scenario that a telecom professional has to face in building a career in these two core business areas.
Masudur Rahman, Vice President, Technology conducted the “Career at Technology” session and the “Career at Sales” session was conducted by Enayetur Rahim, Cluster Director, Southern Cluster Market from Robi.
In their respective sessions, the experts from Robi had shared their life-long learning with the students in building their own career.
The experts had highlighted the challenges that a professional faces in the industry and advised them on how they could prepare themselves mentally to get ready to face such dynamic work environment. The need for mental discipline and the need to cultivate innovative and inquisitive mind was especially stressed at the sessions.
In the Idea generation session, the KUET students had to come up with an innovative idea on digitalizing a service using Robi network. Besides, a quiz competition was also held for the students held through social media and on the venue. The KUET students could also take part in a written test as part of Robi’s recruitment process.
