Robi opens water treatment plant at Mohanganj Rly station

Mobile phone operator Robi has inaugurated a water treatment plant at Mohanganj railway station on Saturday. The initiative was undertaken under its ongoing Corporate Responsibility (CR) project- “Nirapod Pani, Shustho Jibon”. An inauguration programme was organized at the Mohanganj railway station to mark the occasion and observe the World Health Day.
This water plant will serve more than 5,000 passengers everyday traveling to and from Mohanganj in Netrokona. The water plant is capable of producing 500 litres of pure drinking water every hour.
Personal Secretary-I to Prime Minister, Sajjadul Hassan was present at the inauguration programme as the Chief Guest. Robi’s Chief Corporate and People Officer, Matiul Islam Nowshad and Water Aid Bangladesh’s Country Head, Dr. Md. Khairul Islam were also present on the occasion.
Shahid Iqbal, General Secretary, Mohanganj Upazila Awami League; Mohammad Nizam Uddin Ahammed, UNO, Mohanganj Upazila; Advocate Latifur Rahman Ratan, Mayor, Mohanganj Paurashava; Shafiqul Haque, Chairman, Mohanganj Upazila Parishad; Nazrul Islam Khan, Mayor, Netrokona Paurashava; Prashanta Kumar Roy, Chairman, Zilla Parishad, Netrokona; Joydeb Chowdhury, Police Super, Netrokona; Md. Mushfiqur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner, Netrokona and Md. Arifuzzaman, Divisional Railway Manager, Bangladesh Railway were present on the occasion as the Special Guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Robi’s Chief Corporate and People Officer, Matiul Islam Nowshad, pointed out that Mohanganj Station has a scarcity of safe drinking water.
