Robi Khoj the Number 1 Spinner came to an end on Monday with the unveiling of the number 1 spinner of the country, according to Robi’s press release.
In total, 10 male, the best female spinner and the best spinners were recognized at a prize giving ceremony held at the Home of Cricket at Mirpur in the city.
Nayeem Ahmed (Sylhet) is the Khoj the number 1 spinner- 2017. Best Variation Spinner and Most Accuracy Bowler are Nayeem Hossain Sakib (Sylhet) and Rishad Hossain (Rangpur) respectively. Sultana Khatun (Khulna) is the best woman spinner and Md. Nasim has been selected as best physically challenged spinner.
The third and final phase of the competition began with 47 male, 5 female and 5 differently-able young spinners on Thursday, April 6, 2017. Earlier on Saturday, April 8, 2017, the name of 20 male, 3 female and 3 specially spinners were declared at the end of the elimination round.
Each of the top 10 male, the best female and the best specially-abled spinners received Taka 20,000 each as prize money. Among the top 10 male spinners, the number 1 spinner received an additional Taka 30,000.
The second best male spinner won an addition amount of Taka 20,000 and the trophy for Most Accurate and Consistent spinner and the third best male spinner received the trophy for Most Variation and received additional Taka 15,000.
Robi’s Chief Corporate and People Officer, Matiul Islam Nowshad; BCB’s Director and Chairman, Game Development Committee, Khaled Mahmud Sujan; BCB’s Director and Chairman, Marketing and Commercial Committee, Kazi Inam Ahmed; BCB’s Director and Chairman, Media and Communications Committee, Mohammad Jalal Yunus, BCB’s Director and Chairman, Logistic and Protocol Committee, Muhammed Ismail Haider Mallick and BCB’s Director Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan were present at the prize giving ceremony.
The first phase of the competition was held in 64 districts in association with the District Sports Associations of the respective districts. At the end of the first phase 928 male and 72 female spinners were selected.
All of whom took part in the second phase of the campaign held in 10 divisional level cities. The spinners who were selected in the second phase had joined the third and final phase of the competition.
The third phase of Khoj the Number 1 spinner involved thorough physio screening of the spinners to assess their level of physical endurance. The technical team of the High Performance Committee briefed the young spinning talents on all the technical aspects (i.e. stock ball, variation ball etc).
Besides, the technical experts discussed with the spinners about how to read the situation of the game and how to set the field to back his/ her bowling strategy.
