Robi Chowdhury’s three decades in field of music

Robi Chowdhury is still a popular name in the country’s music arena. After releasing his debut solo album, Prem Dao, from Solex he got huge popularity among the music-lovers. From that time to till date he has 65 solo released albums. Since 90s to present, Robi Chowdhury is a popular singer to all. He is also popular performer in both stage and TV shows. This popular singer’s birthday was December 17. Basically on his birthday, he never keeps any schedule for stage show.
While talking about to become today’s Robi Chowdhury, the singer said, “Basically with self-dedication, devotion, willingness and audiences’ loves made me today’s Robi Chowdhury. Obviously, there were also blessings from Almighty Allah. I am specially grateful to the owner of Solex, Murad Bhai. In the beginning of my career in music, when I went to him along with my composed two songs – Ami Aj Jene Gechhi and Bedonar Sobtuku Amake Diye, he gave me the opportunity to release my debut solo album Prem Dao, which earned Tk 10 crores during that time. I respectfully remember them by whom I received training in music. Newcomer singers must be polite and to show respect to the senior singers.”
Robi Chowdhury first received lessons in music from Chattogram’s Ahmed Kabir Azad. Later, he received training from founder of Sangeetayon, Abu Bakar Siddiqui. From Sangeetayon, he completed graduation in Classical Music. Then came to Dhaka, he received training from Khondokar Nurul Alam for two years. On April 7, 1995, he first lent his voice for play-back song titled Morechhi Morechhi Preme Je Porechhi in movie Andolon, directed by Nadim Mahmud, under Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul’s composition. This song was used in lips of Bapparaz and Nishi on the screen. He last worked as music director in Nargis Akhter’s movie Putro Ekhon Paisawala.
