Robbers again active in the Bay of Bengal

Robbers are once again raised their heads in the Bay of Bengal. As a result, a great panic is brewing among the fishermen and the fish traders, according to reports received here. The pirates committed dacoities in three (03) fishing boats (trawlers) in the Bay of Bengal on Saturday night and kidnapped three fishermen from the fishing trawlers in order to realize ransoms. The organized pirates kidnapped some four fishermen for ransoms and shot a fisherman during the last one week.
It is stated, on Saturday night while the fishermen of the affected fishing trawlers were catching fish in the Bay of Bengal near the Kachkhali area of Sundarbans ,dacoity was committed by the armed pirates.
The victim fishing trawlers are FB, At Bhai Fish belonging to one Anwar Hawladar of village Nalbunia under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district, fishing boat Shaon belonging to one Aminul Hawladar of village Rajair under the same Upazila and fishing boat ‘Mayer Doa’ belonging to one Firoj Matubbor under Patharghata Upazila in Barguna district.
Mohidul Munshi, boatman of fishing boat at Bhai Fish, one of the victim fishing boats that returned to Rajair fish landing center (under Sharankhola Upazila) Sunday morning told, at the night while the fishermen of as many as 17 fishing trawlers were catching fish from the place of occurrence some 11 armed pirates appeared there by a fishing boat, attqacked their fishing boats and looted catching fish like hilsa, fuel oil (diesel), mobile phones and other valuables after beating the fishermen.
At the time of their departure they (pirates) kidnapped 3 fishermen from three fishing boats for the realization of ransom Tk.3 lakh per head. The kidnapped fishermen are Lokman Hossain (60) of fishing boat At Bhai Fish, Zakir Hossain (50), of fishing boat Shaon and Jamal Hossain (50) of fishing boat Mayer Doa.
