A suspected robber was killed in a lynch-mob attack during a robbery at a house of East Chorosondi village in Sadar upazila early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Kabir Hossain Khan, 40, son of Ansar Ali Khan of Nagerpara village in Gosairhat upazila.
Additional Police Super Abdul Hannan said a gang of 10-12 robbers stormed into the house of Mosleh Uddin Howlader in the early hours.
Sensing the presence of the bandits, villagers surrounded them and caught Kabir, he said.
Later, the angry mob gave him a mass beating and gouged out his both eyes, the additional SP.
Police rescued him in a critical condition and took him to the Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries in the morning, said sub-inspector Gulzar Alam of Palong Model Police Station.
