A robbery was committed in the house of Borhani Hasan Manik Chowdhury of Bridgeghtat Halderpara of Kotchandpur town in Jhenaidah in the early hours of Friday. The robbers looted valuables for approximately Taka 35 thousand and two mobile phone sets, said the house owner.
Earlier two incidents of theft were committed in the town a few weeks back, created panic among the town dwellers as the police virtually could detect the clue and arrest anyone in this connection, the locals said. Kotchandpur police station officer in charge Ahmed Kabir Chowdhury when contacted said, no one filed any case with the police station, while the police men in the morning had visited the spot.
No one came to the police station till Friday afternoon to file any case, OC said.
Mention may made here that a number of miscreants in the noon of August 27 had theft eight tollas of gold from the house of a school teacher Suraiya at Benepara in the town. The house owner was not available there.
Earlier the miscreants had looted valuables from the house of Mohammad Ali Driver at Solemanpur in the municipal area. Repeated theft and robbery had created panic among the town dwellers, the locals said.
